What does it mean to be human?

There are so many moments in my day when I feel disconnected from my human-ness β€” from my intuition, my body, and my connection to nature and community.

Can you relate?

When I think about easing that sense of disconnection, I keep coming back to one idea: becoming more human.

But what does that actually mean?

I spent some time exploring, and here's what I came up with (would love your thoughts):

✨ I am fully human right now. What I crave is being unburdened from the conditioning that has separated me from my intuition, my community, and the earth.

✨ Being human is hard. It means opening myself up to more discomfort – to emotions and sensations that are easier to suppress or ignore.

✨ Being more human means deepening my relationship with my body. My nervous system deserves care and gentleness.

✨ Being more human is messy. The journey is neither linear nor predictable.

✨ Humans are animals with bodies that need rest to thrive. Animals don't judge themselves for taking a nap.

✨ Being human means embracing the competing parts that exist within us. We are never just one thing. We can be loving and angry. Strong and soft. Bored and committed. Wild and boundaried.

✨ Humans are nature. The more time I spend in nature, the more human I feel. We are meant to live in sync with the seasons and lunar cycles.

✨ Being human is not a solo act. Connection with and support from others is vital. No more rugged individualism, picking ourselves up by our bootstraps, or toughing it out.

Maybe more than anything, being human is being instead of doing.

What resonated with you on this list?

What would you add?

Hit reply and let me know. I'd love to know your thoughts.

As you head into the week, I wish you many moments of sweet human-ness where you feel deeply connected to your own intuition, the natural world around you, and your loved ones.

Grateful to be on the path with you,

Sandi
