For years, I've tried to grow seedlings. While there are many mental health benefits to putting my hands in dirt during the dark, cold winter months in Maine, my seedlings always ended up sad and small.
β
This year was different.
β
Meet my most successful seedling EVER. β¬οΈ
β
After years of buying the fancy equipment and doing my best to copy experts, I learned...
β
sunshine works better than artificial sunshine.
β
Full disclosure - I live in a south-facing house.
β
Needless to say, all my seedlings have moved to the windowsills. I wake up every morning like a kid on Christmas, ready to be amazed by their progress.
β
Not all have exploded β some pots have nothing. But the delight that has come with progress is sunshine for my soul. (β too much?)
β
A few lessons that have emerged:
β
π± Things don't need to be hard. They can be easy, and easy can be celebrated.
π± The simplest solution is often the best solution.
π± Sunshine is fuel.
π± Nature is a steady and loyal teacher.
β
What in your life feels forced or overly complicated?
β
Hereβs what thatβs looked like for me:
- Giving my kids the simple foods they prefer instead of the food I think they should eat.
- Letting go of other people's ideas of how I should parent and prioritizing my relationship with my kids above all else.
- Letting myself rest or slow down when I'm exhausted instead of pushing through.
- Serving the absolute easiest thing when I entertain.
β
Where could you bring in more ease, more light βοΈ, and more simplicity, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]? Iβd truly love to hear.
β
Gardening keeps me humble, as does life.
β
Grateful to be journeying with you,
Sandi
β
P.S. If you have any gardening advice, send it my way.
